People in Lichfield and Burntwood are being reminded to make sure they are registered to vote.
Canvassers will be visiting homes between October 27 and November 17 to make sure those who want to have their say at the next set of elections can do. are visiting properties across Lichfield District where people have not registered to vote yet.
Diane Tilley, Electoral Registration Officer for Lichfield District Council, said: “If you have received letters from us telling you that you either need to register or that we need information about who lives at your property, but have not responded you need to act now.
“It is only by registering that you will be able to vote in next year’s parliamentary and local elections.”
The council is also warning people who do not respond that they could lose the right to a postal vote as well as damaging their credit score.it could also damage their credit score, and could mean they cannot get a mortgage, loan or mobile phone contract, and in some cases people can be fined for not registering.
