FIRE chiefs are warning of the dangers of open water after two boys were rescued from a local river.
The pair were stranded in the River Tame at Fazeley when crews from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called at 6.15pm on Thursday (25th June)
A rescue sled was used to get the two boys safely out of the water.
Station manager Andy Bourne said:
"Thankfully, the two boys rescued in this incident were not injured and had managed to sit on a tree until we arrived.
"I would like to remind people that whilst open water might seem inviting during this warm weather, there are hidden dangers and even strong swimmers can get into difficulty.
"If you do get into difficulty in water, remember to float on your back until help arrives."
