A fine 119 not out from Greg Hunt was not enough for Whittington as they lost out to Aldridge in a thrilling Staffordshire Club Cricket Premier Division encounter.
After being sent in to bat, Hunt led the way as his side produced 269-6 from their 50 overs.
And things looked promising after Aldridge opener Andy Bowers was caught by Dan Hackett off the bowling of James Howarth for just eight.
But fellow opener Simon Westwood posted 63 before being bowled by James Evans.
First ball dismissals of James Johnson and Daniel Shortland by James Howarth once again swung the tie in favour of Whittington.
However, the Aldridge middle order held firm, with Matthew Westwood scoring 95 and Imran Tariq adding 45, as they reached the total with two wickets to spare in 45.2 overs.
Hammerwich were also out of luck as they suffered a two wicket defeat against Beacon.
Elsewhere in the Premier Division, runaway leaders Hawkins continued their march to the title with a win over Cannock & Rugeley, while Wednesbury got the better of Old Wulfrunians.
The day’s other game saw Pelsall lose out to Swindon.
