WHITTINGTON fell short as they lost out at Brewood 2nds.
After putting their hosts into bat, the village side made a strong start as they took a number of early wickets.
Things looked to be going their way as they reduced Brewood to 77-9 – but an unbeaten 119 from Ben Jevons and 27 not out from Alistair Carey saw the innings end on 221-9.
Lochie Waller and Abdulwafi Safi both took three wickets each.
Whittington’s response with the bat got off to a poor start as Shazad Malik was removed for one.
Safi was the top scorer for the visitors with 33 as they were eventually skittled out for 154.
