People from Whittington are among a group heading to Poland to help those fleeing the war in Ukraine.

They will make the trip from 9th to 13th May to help at refugee centres set up to help people fleeing the Russian invasion.
Steve Rushton, who had travelled to Poland in March on another volunteering trip, said they were fundraising to help purchase items to support organisations working with Ukrainians arriving in Poland.
“Friends have asked how they can help support our trip, but there is only so much that we can pack to fly there.
“However, all the essentials required can be bought while in Krakow, so an effective way of helping is for us to purchase items with donations while there.”
The group said any funds not used to purchase items needed by organisations on the ground in Poland would be donated to charities working in the area.
People can donate via an online fundraising page.
