A woman has died after a crash near Lichfield.
Ambulance crews were called to the A453 at Drayton Bassett at 7.20am this morning (October 23) and found a car in a ditch.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “While being treated at the scene, the condition of the driver rapidly deteriorated.
“Crews immediately commenced full resuscitation attempts on the woman. Sadly, despite best efforts of ambulance personnel nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
The road remained closed for several hours after the crash.
