Women are being urged to take part in a fairy-themed fundraising walk in Lichfield.
The St Giles Hospice Solstice Walk has raised more than £370,000 for the hospice since it started in 2007.
The women-only charity walk will be sponsored for the third successive year by Fradley-based bagged salad company Florette.

Florette’s Niki Webster now hopes as many people as possible will join the hundreds already signed up and getting their fairy-themed fancy dress costumes ready to complete the nine-mile walk through Lichfield’s streets on June 23.
“We’re really keen to back St Giles Hospice because it is a truly worthwhile charity that has touched the lives of so many people living in the local area,” she said. “Our employees may come from Lichfield or Burton-upon-Trent, Rugeley, Walsall or Sutton Coldfield, but they all share an awareness of how valuable the service provided by St Giles is to their communities.
“And several of our team members’ loved ones have been cared for by hospice staff and volunteers during the toughest of times. These are the reasons why Florette is delighted to announce its continuing support for St Giles by sponsoring the Solstice Walk.”
Since Florette began sponsoring the St Giles Hospice Solstice Walk, a growing number of women who work for the company have been taking part in the fundraiser each year.
“More and more walkers from Florette are getting involved,” added Niki, who has signed up herself for this year’s Solstice Walk. “It’s a really lovely event and it’s great to see so many women of all ages come together to make a valuable contribution to St Giles for the benefit of those who call on the hospice’s services.
“We want this year’s Solstice Walk to be the most successful yet.”
The 2012 Solstice Walk takes place from 10pm on June 23 and is a night-time walk covering two 4.5-mile circuits of the city. Entry is £15 per walker and is only open to women aged 16 and over, although men are welcome to volunteer as stewards.
Helen Relihan, head of fundraising at St Giles Hospice, added: “We’re anticipating another hugely successful Solstice Walk and hope to see many familiar faces and newcomers among the women taking part in 2012.”
