A YOUNG cyclist is helping to keep other riders safe after taking on a special challenge.
Jamie Chance has been sponsored to cycle as many miles as he can until the end of August.
As well as raising money to buy new cycling helmets to help keep other riders safe, Jamie is also hoping to promote efforts to build a new pump track at Chasewater.
His mother Rachel Stackhouse, who has been one of the driving forces behind the campaign to build the specialist facility, said:
"Jamie has ridden every day since the beginning of May and as now clocked up 200 miles so far.
"He has been putting so much into this challenge, fitting rides in around school life, homework and general everyday life.
"All terrains have been covered, including local roads in and around Burntwood, at Chasewater, on bike trails at Cannock Chase, along canal paths and even the steep hills of Wales on his holiday in Barmouth.
"He even came back home from a busy day BMX racing and was determined to hit the 200-mile marker before the end of May so went out on his mountain bike and rode 14 miles to reach it."
