YOUNGSTERS have been making themselves heard at a speaking competition.

The Primitas Learning Partnership Year 6 Speaking Competition was held at Holly Grove Primary Academy in Burntwood, with pupils from Highfields Primary Academy, Henry Chadwick Primary School and Ridgeway Primary Academy also taking part.

Judged by Dave Robertson MP, Linda Henn of Burntwood Rotary and Primitas trustee Heather Phillips, the event gave the children the chance to showcase their speeches.

A close contest saw Henry Chadwick Primary School crowned overall winners.

The Lichfield MP said:

"I was very impressed by the children who spoke with such confidence and really set out their arguments well.

"I know how difficult it can be to speak in public, so well done to all the children who took part."
