Becky Smith pulled a goal back for Walsall with a shot that deflected past Diamonds keeper Jo Sheerin but Jo Hearne soon restored the momentum with a close range volley. Julie Caddick came on in the second half and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, but two goals from Clough and one each from Ammo Reddish and Katy Rose sealed a good win. Josie Balla drilled a low shot home midway through the first half which turned out to be the only goal of a good game. With players missing on Easter hols, the Diamonds side had to work hard to keep a clean sheet. Centre forward Caitlin Harper led the line well on her own up front while centre back Freya Sammons was an inspiration to her team mates. St Georges U12 0 Lichfield Diamonds U12 11: Diamonds reached the league cup final with a goal frenzy against St Georges. The opposition set their stall out from the start with four at the back, three in midfield and only one up front, this however proved to be a futile tactic as Twine opened the flood gates with a well taken goal. The same player then added two more with Meehan also claiming a well deserved hat-trick before half time. The second half was shooting practice for Diamonds as they managed to score five more without reply. Twine completed her second double hat-trick in a week with the other goals coming from Dixon and Walker. A good all round performance which sets up the final. Lichfield Diamonds U11 5 Uttoxeter U11 0: Needing to win there final two games to overtake Burton Albion in runners-up spot, it looked a tall order with only five players available but Diamonds pulled off a mighty performance. Katy Hitchcock opened the scoring with Niamh Bowdler hitting the second right on half-time. Seizing on defensive mistakes, Hitchcock added three more in the second half to leave Diamonds needing a win in their final game against Chelaston in which they will hope to be back to full strength. Lichfield Diamonds U10 3 Stafford Town U10 0: Diamonds added another three points in their penultimate game, showing how much they have improved as a team with little cameos of passing and movement appearing.
