Chasetown FC put the misery of their FA Cup defeat behind them with a 7-1 demolition of Spalding United.

The Scholars were looking to bounce back as they made the trip to Spalding and got the perfect start when Craig Milligan opened the scoring.

Danny Smith shrugged off an injury doubt to make it 2-0, before Gary Birch gave the Scholars a 3-0 advantage.

Smith scored his second to make it four without reply, but Spalding did hit back with a goal from outside the box.

But Chasetown soon picked up the pace once more as Birch bagged his second of the game before new signing Grant Ryan started his loan spell from Mansfield Town in style with a goal to make it 6-1.

Chasetown’s scoring was complete when Harry Harris came off the subs bench to lash home a glorious strike.
