With Lichfield and Burntwood residents preparing to go to the polls on May 5, The Lichfield Blog is giving you the inside track on the people aiming to win your votes.

We’ve sent a questionnaire out to all candidates standing for election to Lichfield District Council and we’ll be publishing their responses as we get them.

By offering an insight into the views of those standing for election, we hope more people in Lichfield and Burntwood will use their vote.

And it’s a mission that has drawn support from Lichfield District Council.

Nina Dawes, Electoral Registration Officer for Lichfield District, said:

“The right to vote was fought for and hard won and it’s vital that we use it. Our local elections are so important to us, and voting is your way of influencing how decisions are made locally. The referendum is about how we vote and it’s important that everyone has their say.

“We work hard to promote local democracy and it’s great to see The Lichfield Blog’s interest in the coming elections. We hope it encourages even more people to the polls on May 5.”

Candidate replies will start being published from today (April 18). If you don’t see a reply from candidates in your ward, why not ask them why they have not sent it back?
