Shenstone produced a battling performance to earn a point against high-flying Hanwood.
The odds had been stacked against Pathfinder who had nine first team players unavailable due to injury and holidays for their first home fixture of the campaign.
Captain Adam Simpson set the tone early on in the game winning headers and dominating the early midfield exchanges. Similarly, Geffen and Finkle in the home back four were superb, keeping a lively Hanwood front line at bay and reducing them to shots from long range in a first half that saw few chances for either side.
The second half saw Shenstone start brightly with new signing Jimmy Daniels from Midland Combination Premier side Castle Vale JKS looking good in possession and creating chances for Caddy and Anderson up front.
With 15 minutes of the second period gone Daniels played a one two on the edge of the box before unleashing a fierce low drive which Dale Harvey in the Hanwood goal did well to save, but he could only parry the ball out and Chris Caddy showed his predatory instincts by being first to the rebound and tapping into an open net.
Hanwood responded positively and penned Pathfinder back, Tom Reynolds and Ollie Kesterton were always lively up front for the visitors, but it appeared Geffen and Finkle had their measure.
However with ten minutes to go James Taylor skipped past Peter Kidd on the left and crossed to the back post where Owen’s header was well saved by Heanan in the Pathfinder goal, but Kesterton followed up to ram home the equaliser and deny Path finder the three points.
Shenstone’s next fixture sees them travel to AFC Smethwick on Saturday (August 27) for a game at York Road, Oldbury, kick-off 3pm.
