LICHFIELD Hockey Club's women produced a statement 4-2 win against Beeston.
The city side set their stall out from the off, with Rebecca Popple finding the backboard after just two minutes following some fine build-up play from Charlotte Attridge and Ella Delderfield.
Beeston attempted to respond, but the hosts were comfortably on top and had the majority of the possession.
The lead was doubled in the second quarter as Popple netted again, this time showing some impeccable stick skills to evade a number of defenders in the D.
Despite the two-goal advantage at half-time, Lichfield knew they needed to keep pushing – and they stretched the lead further when a short corner routine broke down and Ellie Doubleday turned Delderfield's shot over the line.
Beeston changed their structure and took advantage of a lapse in concentration from the hosts to pull it back to 3-2 with a couple of goals.
But Lichfield kicked back into gear in the fourth quarter as Delderfield won a penalty stroke and sent it into the bottom corner to ensure a fine home victory.
