A CELEBRATION of squash in Lichfield has been hailed as a "really successful day" by organisers.
The event was run by Lichfield Squash Club and saw juniors and adults invited to give the sport a go.
The day wrapped up with finals featuring players from the club.
The junior final saw Mavis Moy beat Will Riley 3-1, while the adult competitions saw Dean Middleton beat Dave Shields 3-0, Andy Truman beat Dan Jones 3-0, and Vincent Cheng beat Sam Isaacson 3-1.
James Roberts, from Lichfield Squash Club, said:
"We were delighted to welcome Catharine Forster, headteacher of King Edward VI School, for the junior final and presentation, and local historian Jono Oates for the adult finals and trophy presentations.
"It was also great to see a good crowd supporting the players and creating a great atmosphere around the courts.
"The community participation side of the day was just as important to us as the competitive squash though – and we’ll now be following up with the people who attended the Try Squash sessions with opportunities to continue playing through coaching, club nights, leagues and junior programmes."
