Chasetown FC’s final pre-season game ended with a 2-1 defeat at home to Stourbridge.

The result could have been different had Lee Butler converted a penalty for the home side midway through the first half. The midfielder struck the ball well, but Price guessed the right way and saved it.

Instead it was the Glassboys who broke the deadlock just moments later, Karl Hawley found himself with little room to manoeuvre 15 yards out, but still managed to turn and strike a ferocious shot into the top corner.

After the break the game became scrappy with very few chances for either side, until a lovely jinking run from Laite exposed the Chasetown defence before he slipped in Dodd who tucked the ball neatly into the bottom corner to put the visitors 2-0 ahead.

The Scholars did manage a late consolation when new signing Dominic Dell poked home from close range. Griffiths had his shot parried away by Solly, before the ball was returned back into the box and Dell was on hand to finish.
