An 83 year old man has been killed after being hit by a car near Beacon Park in Lichfield.

The incident happened at around 1:10pm by the Beacon Street entrance to Beacon Park opposite the Memorial Gardens.
A black Ford Fiesta was in collision with the pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, also in her 80s suffered minor injuries in the incident. Neither have been named.
The driver of the car, a 54 year old woman from Lichfield has been arrested and taken into custody at Tamworth police station.
West Midlands Ambulance Service reported that the incident was attended to by two rapid response vehicles, staffed respectively by an incident support officer and a community paramedic officer along with two ambulance crews and the Midlands Air Ambulance.
A spokesman said, “Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
The road has been closed while the collision investigation unit from Staffordshire Police examine the scene. Police are asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to them to get in touch as soon as possible by calling 0300 123 4455 quoting reference number 388 of 28th May.
Unconfirmed reports from people at the scene suggested the driver of the car had emerged from the entrance to Beacon Park, colliding with the man as she travelled across the road, ending up in the Memorial Gardens.
