ALREWAS secured a confidence-boosting win as they overcame Swarkestone by 61 runs.
It was just the second victory of the season for the Herons in the Derbyshire County Cricket League Premier Division.
After opting to bat first, Alrewas made a solid start, reaching 163 before Gareth Woolley became the first wicket to fall when he was bowled by Ajay Khunti on 88.
The nerves might have begun to jangle though as more victims fell in quick succession as the score slipped to 176-6.
But Sam van Daesdonk hit an unbeaten 43 to help Alrewas end their innings on 280-8.
Khunti was the star of the show with the ball as he finished with figures of 7-37.
Swarkestone opener Harry Franklin hit 73 in 115 balls as his side went in search of the target, but when he eventually fell to leave the score on 160-7 their aims switched to damage limitation.
But Alrewas eventually skittled them out for 219, with Will Smedley finishing as top wicket-taker with figures of 4-45.
