Amateur bakers set to battle it out at the Lichfield Food Festival

Amateur bakers are being urged to battle it out in a competition as part of the Lichfield Food Festival.

The Three Spires Shopping Centre will host the contest between noon and 1pm on August 31, with the contest taking part across three age categories:

  • 4 to 11
  • 12 to 17
  • 18 and over

Bakers in the two older age categories can create the top tier of a wedding cake or six wedding cupcakes for a chance to win vouchers to spend in The Kitchen Shop and Cakeydora. The George Hotel is also offering the winner of in the adult category, dinner for two at its recently launched Darwin’s restaurant.

Bakers in the young age group are asked to enter four Cinderella-inspired cupcakes for a chance to win a family ticket to see Cinderella at the Lichfield Garrick this Christmas and Cakeydora vouchers.

Julie Crisp, from Cakeydora, will be judging the entries. She said: “I’m really excited about seeing how the wedding and Cinderella themes are interpreted.

“I am also looking forward to tasting all the cakes, so I must remember to be hungry for the judging!”
