Appeal after man is seriously injured in road rage incident near Lichfield

A man has been seriously injured in a road rage incident near Lichfield.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with spinal injuries after an altercation between a lorry driver and a man in a silver Peugeot 207 at around 5.30pm on Monday (August 6).

Both vehicles had travelled from the direction of Wall Island and the incident happened in the outside lane of the carriageway, just before Muckley Corner, facing the direction of Brownhills and Burntwood.

Police to speak to anyone who was travelling along the A5 in either direction or the A461 (Walsall Road) near to Muckley Corner around the time of the incident and may have witnessed the incident.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “It would have been extremely busy at the time due to people making their way home from work. Both the car and lorry were stationary for some time and would have caused substantial disruption to drivers.”

Anyone with information should ring detectives at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 594 of 6 August. Alternatively, they can ring independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
