Assistant manager calls for Shenstone Pathfinder FC improvement

Assistant manager calls for Shenstone Pathfinder FC improvement

Assistant manager Gary Cantelo has demanded a reaction from Shenstone Pathfinder after their defeat at Trysull.

Shenstone were dead and buried by half-time as they conceded three first half goals.

The manner of the defeat was a hard pill to swallow following Pathfinder’s opening day victory over Warstone Wanderers.

But Cantelo insists the players must not lick their wounds for too long. He explained:

“We were poor defensively in the first half and that doesn’t just mean the defence because we didn’t close down well enough in wide areas in midfield either. We were punished by Trysull and got what we deserved.

“The second half was much better and you couldn’t have told who was 3-0 up if you had got there at half-time – unfortunately some of our players didn’t really turn up until half-time either!

“Having said that if you had offered us three points from the first two games I guess we would have taken it and we now have to make sure we react to this performance and put it right on Saturday.”

Shenstone’s next game sees them entertain early pace-setters Hanford United on Saturday (August 20), kick-off 3pm.
