The Johnson Society Winter Lectures will kick-off with a lecture by Kate Chisholm.

Her talk – An Equal Mind and the Female Quixote: Johnson’s colleagues Elizabeth Carter and Charlotte Lennox – will take place on November 20 and come on the back of an appearance at the Lichfield Literature festival.

A spokersperson said: “The Society lecture will look much further into the lives and work of the two fascinating female writers, who were important figures in the bluestocking circle and respected and successful authors in their own time.”

The Lectures take place at Martin Heath Hall at 2.15pm and costs £3.50, including tea and homemade cake. The series continues in January and February with a look at James Boswell and the Georgian Stage.
