Chasetown FC suffered a bad day at the office as they went down 5-0 at Frickley Athletic on Bank Holiday Monday.
The hosts thought they had a penalty in the opening ten minutes after a foul by Curtis Pond, but an earlier offside had denied them the chance to open the scoring.
But they didn’t have to wait long to do so, as Luke Davies conceded a spot kick in the 15th minute and Gavin Allott sent Pond the wrong way from 12 yards.
The Yorkshire side doubled the lead in the 25th minute. Chasetown lost the ball in midfield and Tom Dugdale fed Allott who drilled it past Pond.
The Scholars keeper made a good save to deny Jacob Hazel low to his right, before Steve Hopewell forced an even better save from Pond high to the top corner.
A minute before the break, Chasetown gave the ball away and this time it was brother Grant Allott who smashed beyond Pond from long range.
Chasetown made a better start to the second half with Nick Wellecomme inches wide of the post with Muzzy Nduna a boot lace away from connecting too.
Frickley countered quickly and Allott completed his hat trick from close range.
The hosts were in total control and a fifth goal was no surprise with substitute Carl Stewart getting in on the act.
Chasetown substitute Jake Lovatt forced home keeper Seb Malkowski into his first save of the match with a low save.
But the visitors had the chance to grab a consolation after Lovatt was pushed in the box – but he saw his resulting penalty saved to cap a miserable day for the Scholars.
