A good bowling effort wasn’t enough to save the game for Whittington CC against Hawkins after they were let down by a below par batting display.
After winning the toss Whittington batted, but an uneven track, coupled with some poor shot selection, four LBW’s and a run out contributed to them being bowled out for 77 in 34 overs.
Only Matt Stone with 23 not out made double fugures.
In reply, Hawkins soon raced to 30 without loss, but Whittington fought back, with Howarth claiming 3-38, and Spindler and Ali both claiming a wicket, along with a run out as Hawkins slipped to 62-6 in reply.
But skipper Rashid and keeper Evans saw Hawkins home in the 21st over.
Final result: Whittington (77 all out) lost to Hawkins (78-6) by four wickets
Whittington will look to fight back next week with a trip to Milford.
Whittington 2nd currently sit top of division 2a after Highcroft cancelled their game after being unable to raise a side.
