WHITTINGTON struggled with the bat as they lost by 83 runs at Pelsall 2nds.

The villagers were sent into the field first, making a lightning start to reduce the hosts to 4-2 inside the first two overs.

But a half century from Corey Mountney and a 49 from Jamie Ford got the innings back on track for the batting side.

Useful runs were added late on by William Corcoran and Ruben Symonds too before Pelsall were bowled out for 206.

Abdulwali Safi was the pick of the Whittington bowlers as he wrapped up with figures of 4-31.

The visitors made a steady start to their response as they reached 45-2 – but that second wicket proved to set off the dominoes as they fell to 76-6.

Batsmen kept on falling despite the best efforts of Toby Dennis with an unbeaten 14 in the tail as Whittington were bowled out for 123.
