The North Lichfield Initiative is to close.

The community organisation which has been behind a number of events, including the regular lantern parade, will shut its doors later this year.

A decision was taken following a consultation event earlier this year.

Colin Ball, chair of the North Lichfield Initiative, told LichfieldLive: “We are all sad to go, but we feel we have done our job and helped make North Lichfield a better place over the past 10 to 12 years of our work.

“We carried out a very full consultation in the community some months back to find out what they wanted from us.

“There was a very poor response and no major issues came up, so, the board decided that we had served our purpose and thought it best to wind up.”

The North Lichfield Initiative had been based in the Jigsaw community hub on Dimbles Lane.

The building has since been taken on by the Fusion Credit Union who will continue to operate from the site.

Mr Ball confirmed that the North Lichfield Initiative would organise one final lantern parade during the October half-term before closing on November 1.
