Manager Paul Holt admits he already has his sights set on strengthening his Lichfield City squad for next season.
The Midland Combination Premier Division side conclude their league campaign this evening (May 9) with a home clash against Bolehall Swifts.
Holt is likely to shuffle his pack, with a number of faces missing for the end of season finale after Holt gave those who play Sunday football permission to turn out for Lichfield Social A in the Top Twenty Cup Final at Chasetown FC this evening.
But he insists he still wants those who are involved to help the club finish the season on a high.
“It’s important that we finish the season with a win to cap an excellent first campaign at this level,” Holt explained.
“I gave the lads that play Sundays the choice of what they wanted to do as not much is riding on this game. Four have opted to give our game a miss.
“But I have Danny Worrall back and still have a full quota so I’m not concerned about the squad’s quality.”
Holt’s pack will be boosted by the arrival of Jack Langston and Dan McLeod from Rocester for the final game of the campaign.
“They were both on loan with us earlier in the season, but unfortunately they were recalled before they appeared for us so it’s good to have that extra quality available again,” the City boss added.
Despite seeing their hopes of a top six finish fade in the final stages of the season, Lichfield’s transformation under Holt has been impressive.
But although his players have served him well this season, the City chief isn’t planning to rest on his laurels during the close season.
“I will be looking to build on the progress we have made with a few quality additions to the squad over the summer,” Holt said.
“We have identified which areas need strengthening and moves are already in place to bring players in.”
