Burntwood St Matthews’ Sunday First XI recorded a narrow 18 run home victory over Guilfordians.
Luke Dovey was the outstanding performer from the Burntwood batsmen – notching up a massive 133-run haul, with Adam Ansell also contributing 41 to the Burntwood total of 228-5 after 40 overs.
Guilfordians fought back strongly however, sparked largely by a century partnership between Jay Lalsheta and Paul Rayworth, who made 62 and 49 runs non-out respectively.
Their efforts were not enough though as Guilfordians fell 18 runs short of Burntwood’s total, with their final score of 210-6.
George Haywood was the pick of the Burntwood bowlers, finishing with figures of 2-7.
