Burntwood Town’s hopes of springing an upset against Coventry United were dashed as they went down 6-1.
Things had looked promising when Burntwood took an early lead.
But their efforts were without reward as a Daniel Stokes hat-trick and goals for Jean Dakouri, Muziwandile Nduna and Nathan Stoute sealed the win for Coventry.
Town will have one last chance to improve on their 15th place in the Midland Football Combination Division Two when they travel to Coventry United for the reverse fixture on May 17.
