People are being urged to help out as a major Ironman event comes to Burntwood.
More than 2,000 competitors will take on the challenge of a 1.2mile swim at Chasewater, followed by a 56 mile bike ride through areas including Kings Bromley. The course will be wrapped up with a 13.1 mile run at Shugborough.
The event takes place on June 14 and an army of volunteers are need to cover jobs such as marshalling the event and taking care of feeding stations along the route.
Kevin Stewart, managing director o Ironman UK & Ireland, said: “The volunteer crew play a huge part in the whole experience and they work at the very heart of the race.
“It is a fantastic day and as volunteers people will have the chance to be part of the very first event in Staffordshire.”
County councillor Mark Winnington said he hoped local people would sign up to play their part in promoting the area.
“This a fantastic opportunity to not only be part of something really special, but also to act as an ambassador for our county,” he said.
“The army of volunteers will help us showcase Staffordshire and make sure it is a fantastic day for everyone.”
