Volunteers are being urged to give their time to help a local conservation group boost wildlife in a Lichfield park.
Lichfield District Council’s Countryside and Parks Conservation Group (CPCG), a voluntary group set up to conserve and maintain local parks and green spaces, is looking for new members to help at its next event.
Residents will be rolling up their sleeves to create a flower glade in Beacon Park on Wednesday (July 4), from 10.30am to 3pm.
The day will include removing nettles, brambles and scrub from beneath the trees, which will encourage wildflowers to flourish in the woodland area of the park.
Councillor Alan White said: “We’re looking for volunteers to join the group and help clear an area of Beacon Park. Our conservation events are a great way to learn new skills and meet new friends.
“If you come along, don’t forget to wear sturdy shoes and to bring some thick gardening gloves.”
No skills are needed and the volunteers will be given full training, but must be over 18 years of age. The group will meet by the Swinfen Broun Pavilion in the middle of the park. The closest car parks are Bunker’s Hill (WS13 6RB), Greenhough Road (WS13 7AU) and Shaw Lane (WS13 8HN).
