A major arts project in Lichfield in May is looking to recruit an army of volunteers.
Lichfield Mysteries – one of the biggest community arts events in the country, needs around 40 volunteers to help the two-day extravaganza run smoothly.
Supporters are needed mainly to help sell programmes and t-shirts in the city centre and in and around the Cathedral.
“There are round 1,000 people involved in the Mysteries over the May Bank Holiday – actors, directors, back-stage crews etc – but we need many more to help on the streets and in the Cathedral,” said chair Ros Hallifax.
“We hope that people will volunteer an hour or two of their time to help and join in the fun of this spectacular event.”
Stewards’ organiser Peter Chell explained: “We are looking for people who can spare some time over the two days to sell programmes and t-shirts, but there will be other jobs as well.
“I will be giving the pairs of volunteers some ‘safety’ training beforehand and hope that as many people as possible will come forward to help.”
