Michael Fabricant has told Lichfield and Burntwood residents that the Conservative Party has a positive vision for them and the whole country.

But he admits their plans could have been made visible much earlier.

He said: “I’ve had discussions with David Cameron about our repetition of the phrase ‘long-term economic plan’. In my opinion we have focused too narrowly on that.

“We should have set out our vision much earlier.

“I’ve said to him our long-term economic plan is just the means to an end. David has now announced our vision for the country with the extension of right-to-buy scheme, our pledge that no one on the minimum wage will pay income tax and increased NHS spending.

“But we can only make these pledges because we’ve a strong economy.”

The candidates standing in the Lichfield constituency in May are:

  • Andy Bennetts – Class War
  • Michael Fabricant – Conservatives
  • Robert Pass – Green Party
  • John Rackham – UKIP
  • Paul Ray – Lib Dem
  • Chris Worsey – Labour
