CHASETOWN took the honours on derby day as they ran out winners against Lichfield City.
It was the first league fixture between the two sides in more than 40 years with both teams looking for a first win of this campaign.
The Scholars got the better start as Matt Funge was hauled down in the box after five minutes for a penalty. Keeper Tom Carter saved Jack Langston's initial spot-kick but could not prevent him on the rebound.
Chasetown were looking bright in attack with Tak Sambizi ruled offside as he looked to latch on to a dangerous ball into the box by Matt Hearsey.
City went close to a leveller but the effort was cleared off the line by a home defender.
The Scholars doubled their advantage ten minutes before the break when Carter again produced a good stop but Lachlan Suffell was on hand to net the follow-up.
Chasetown made a number of changes around the hour mark and it was one of these subs who got the third of the afternoon as Kyle Moseley's ball was deflected past Carter to make it 3-0.
Lichfield pulled one back 12 minutes from time when debutant Tyree Sanusi's clever run and finish found the net.
Five minutes later and the game was firmly on again as Isaac Smart was first to Mason Perry's cross to reduce the deficit to one goal.
But the Chasetown backline held on to secure a crucial three points and local bragging rights.
