CHASETOWN came from behind to salvage a point at Vauxhall Motors.
Jamie Hawkins’ men got off to the worst possible start when veteran striker Kevin Ellison tucked home a loose ball in the box with just five minutes on the clock.
The Scholars sent a free kick over the bar as they looked to find a route back into the game.
If Vauxhall made the better start to the first half, the roles were reversed in the second period as just two minutes in Chasetown levelled courtesy of Jordan Evans.
Motors nearly retook the lead shortly afterwards though, but Jawad Jebrin sent a good chance over Curtis Pond’s crossbar.
It wasn’t Jebrin’s afternoon as he managed to clear the frame of the Chasetown goal once more just after the hour mark.
The Scholars were also carving out opportunities though, with a ball across the goal crying out for a finishing touch which no-one could apply.
Jebrin almost made amends for his two earlier misses with a volley that was kept out by Pond.
Vauxhall went even closer 15 minutes from time when Joe Malkin mis-kicked to send the ball wide – and then Chasetown cleared off the line as the home side looked to snatch the points.
Jebrin curled a late effort wide, but the Scholars were able to hang on for a hard-earned point.
