Two men arrested in connection with the murder of Richard Deakin in Chasetown have been released on police bail.
The pair were questioned by police yesterday (July 21) over the death of Mr Deakin who was killed on July 5 in his Meadway Street home, but have now been released pending further inquiries.
Chief Inspector Selwyn Burton said:
“Our Major Investigation Department is carrying out a full, detailed inquiry into Mr Deakin’s death. We are determined to bring his killers to justice and are continuing to appeal for anybody with information to contact us.”

Neighbourhood uniformed officers have maintained high-visibility patrols in the Meadway Street area following the incident, to offer reassurance to local residents.
A drop-in event was held at the nearby Ridgeway Primary School on July 19 where police, local councillors and other partners were on hand to discuss any concerns. Newsletters have also been issued to local residents to keep them updated.
