Members of Chasewater Railway have been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The heritage line operates steam and diesel services along the former colliery route in Burntwood.
The Chasewater Light Railway and Museum Company is now a registered charity running around two miles of passenger line.
Their efforts have now seen them receive the Royal honour.
Mark Sealey, Chairman of Chasewater Railway, said: “We are overjoyed to receive this most prestigious award as the culmination of 50 years of hard work, tenacity and dedication from all of our volunteers past, present and future.
“We are proud to continue to preserve a piece of our local industrial heritage for future generations to educate and enjoy.”
Chasewater Railway is one of 193 voluntary organisations across the UK – nine of which are in Staffordshire – to receive the accolade this year.
The Queen’s representative for the county, the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire Ian Dudson, said: “This recognition is for each and every one of the hundreds of volunteers involved in these organisations and I send them my warmest congratulations.”
