A COUNCIL leader says she hopes national attention on Lichfield will encourage more visitors to sample everything the city has to offer.
It comes after an article in The Guardian highlighted the city’s rich history.
The national newspaper noted the architecture of the cathedral and the wealth of Georgian buildings.
Cllr Rosie Harvey-Coggins, leader of Lichfield City Council, said:
“It’s a privilege to live here and to lead a council that is dedicated to preserving so many of our historic landmarks.
“It’s fantastic that The Guardian has chosen to feature Lichfield, recognising the city’s remarkable heritage.
“There are countless fascinating stories about the people of Lichfield, including Erasmus Darwin, a key figure in the abolition of slavery and Anna Seward, the writer and poet.
“The cathedral and the Dr Johnson Museum are both free to enter, making them wonderful destinations for families and tourists – I highly recommend a visit to either of these incredible sites.
