A new community band will be making its debut in Lichfield next month.

Pulled together by former Netherstowe School student Nick Dewhurst, Blast Off includes members aging from 14 to 72 on instruments including french horn, flute, tube, saxophone, trumpet and trombone.

They will make their first appearance at the Fuse festival in Beacon Park on July 13.

A spokesperson for Lichfield Arts said: “If you like the sound of groovy tunes with a splash of New Orleans and a touch of Hollywood, topped with British finesse and Mediterranean sun, we’ll see you in the marquee for this wonderful community band.”
