THE leader of the Conservatives at Lichfield District Council has praised the newest member of his group after a by-election success.
Martyn Punyer won the Armitage with Handsacre vote ahead of Reform UK’s Andrew Clissett.
It means the party retain the seat following the resignation of former councillor Nikki Hawkins.
Cllr Doug Pullen, leader of Lichfield District Council, said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Martyn Punyer to the Conservative group at Lichfield District Council.
“Martyn ran a superb campaign focusing on the issues that matter for the residents Armitage, Handsacre and Kings Bromley.
“I very much look forward to working with him over the coming years.”
Cllr Punyer said:
“Thank you to everybody who voted for me and all the amazing volunteers who helped – the hard work starts now.”
