PEOPLE are being urged not to fall victim to ticket scams ahead of festival season.
Staffordshire County Council’s Trading Standards team has issued a warning to people ahead of Glastonbury getting under way.
Officials said demand for major events over the summer meant people would often seek out tickets from alternative locations – but warned they could be leaving themselves open to being ripped off and picking up fakes.
Cllr Anthony Screen, cabinet member for community safety, said:
“Now we’re in the festival season, our attention becomes more and more focused on the ticket scams to which far too many people fall victim.
“By following some simple advice, concert fans can protect themselves, get what they paid for and make sure they get to enjoy a genuine and safe experience.”
Trading Standards are urging people to only buy from official vendors and accredited resellers, as well as avoiding social media sales.
