CYCLISTS are being invited to “pay what they feel” to take part in the fifth running of a charity bike ride.
The Ride Lichfield Sportive will return on 28th June.
Starting and finishing in the heart of Lichfield, the popular event has become a fixture in the local cycling calendar.
Designed to get people out on their bikes, the ride combines scenic Staffordshire routes, community fundraising and grassroots cycling support.
Riders can take part for free or pay what they feel the event is worth, with all profits split between local bicycle charity Lichfield Re:Cycle and Children with Cancer UK.
Since launching, the sportive has attracted more than 500 riders and raised over £10,000 for good causes.
The 2026 event will once again offer riders the chance to take on one of two routes, with a 40-mile route and a 60-mile route designed to appeal to both experienced cyclists and those looking for a personal challenge.
Organisers say the event’s continued growth reflects the strength of the local cycling community and the appetite for accessible, community-led sportives:
“It’s great to be able to bring the Ride Lichfield Sportive back for another year.
“From the start, we wanted to create a sportive that felt genuinely welcoming and accessible to everyone.
“We’ve seen how expensive similar cycling events can be, so the ‘pay what you feel’ approach allows more people to take part while still supporting great causes and helping us grow a brilliant local community event.”
Riders can expect fully signposted routes, a free feed stop and a medal for every finisher.
