STAFFORDSHIRE’S Deputy Chief Fire Officer has been honoured in the King’s New Year’s Honours.
Glynn Luznyj will receive the King’s Fire Service Medal for distinguished service to the fire and rescue sector during a career which has already spanned 28 years.
He has been at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service since starting as a trainee firefighter in 1996. Over the next two decades he progressed through the ranks working at fire stations across the county before joining the management team in 2015 and then being appointed to his current role in 2021.
Glynn said:
“I am extremely proud to be part of a high performing fire and rescue service and this recognition is a great personal honour and one that I will always cherish.
“It’s a reflection of the good fortune that I have had in working with wonderful colleagues, past and present, in the fire and rescue service.
“I want to pay tribute to the firefighters that I work with who put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of others. I also want to recognise the fire control staff and the prevention, protection and fire support staff who work so hard to keep our communities safe on a daily basis.
“I am indebted to many colleagues who have helped and encouraged me personally over the many years in the fire service, but most of all to my wonderful family who have always been there to support me.”
Among the projects Glynn has led on is the Community Sprinkler scheme which saw 19 high rise buildings fitted with sprinkler systems. He has also organised convoys of old appliances and equipment to go to Ukraine.

“It is so pleasing to see Glynn’s hard work and dedication to improving community outcomes being recognised by his Majesty.
“Glynn works tirelessly, both locally and nationally, and I am proud to work with him here in Staffordshire.”
Staffordshire Commissioner Ben Adams added:
“My congratulations to Glynn Luznyj on being awarded the King’s Fire Service Medal. It confirms what we already knew in Staffordshire, that he is completely dedicated to supporting the fire and rescue service locally and across the country.
“He does everything he can to keep Staffordshire safe and is very deserving of this recognition.”
