Concerns over the future of a hotel chain will not impact on a key Lichfield city centre regeneration scheme, developers have claimed.

There had been fears that the Friary Outer scheme could be in doubt after Travelodge – who were confirmed as the operators of a new hotel at the centre of the development – revealed rising costs relating to its debts and sparked rumours of a takeover bid.
However S Harrison Developments who are working on the Lichfield redevelopment scheme, have played down suggestions that the news could push the project back.
“Travelodge is currently in the news as it seeks additional funding, but this will have no impact on the provision of much-needed affordable homes and the new car park planned for Friary Outer,” a spokesperson told Lichfield Live.
