A new film club is launching in Lichfield.
The Lichfield Film group is aiming to show movies at a range of venues across the city.
The launch night will see award-winning eco-documentary Drying for Freedom screened at Wade Street Hall on Wednesday (May 1), as part of the Hanging Out Festival.
Spokesperson Lucy Beth said: “The lack of a cinema in Lichfield is something which is constantly discussed and has recently received coverage, with the petition to restore the old Regal building and possibility of a multiplex in a few years times.
“While these are both wonderful projects, it does not rectify the situation now.
“The launch of Lichfield Film aims to bring a relaxed cinematic experience to the city.
“There will be regular screenings at venues around the city centre, showing a mix of new, independent and classic films.”
The screening of Drying for Freedom starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 on the door.
