Lichfield shoppers are being given the chance to explore their creative side at a series of free art workshops.
As part of this year’s Big Draw event, Lichfield District Council and the Untitled Contemporary Art Group are hosting an art exhibition in an empty city centre shop.
They are also inviting shoppers to try out different drawing styles at a series of workshops on Saturday (October 27), between 10am and 4pm.
Various drawings went on display from October 20 in the window of the shop on Bakers Lane in Lichfield’s Three Spires Shopping Centre.
The What is Drawing? window display has been put together to show examples of the importance of drawing in our every day lives and work. It is split into four categories: perception, communication, invention and action. It includes maps, plans and designs as well as portraits and still lifes.
Celia Houghton, Lichfield District Council’s Arts Development Officer, said: “These free workshops are a great opportunity to have a go at different drawing techniques and to think about drawing in a different way.
“If you want to have a go on Saturday, just head to the shop between O2 and Boots Opticians on Bakers Lane to try your hand at drawing.”
Erica Bridgwood, member of Untitled Contemporary Art Group, added: “We’re looking forward to running a series of workshops in the centre of Lichfield. We’re always keen to welcome new members to the art group, so please do ask one of the artists on the day, if you are interested in joining.”
The What is Drawing? window display is running until November 3.
