Drivers urged to take care as wet weather strikes in Lichfield and Burntwood

Published:

Drivers are being urged to take extra care as heavy rain batters Lichfield and Burntwood.

Staffordshire County Council has highways teams on alert to clear any standing water, but is warning people not to get caught out in difficult road conditions.

Cllr Mike Maryon said: “People across the county need to drive with caution and be aware that there could be surface flooding around any corner.

“Our highways teams will be responding where the demand is highest, but we are expecting a surge in calls tomorrow and possibly Saturday so would ask people to bear with us.

“Road gullies have been cleared across the county over the last few weeks, but they will still struggle to cope with a sudden deluge of water.

“We would be grateful if people could alert us to problems in their area by calling the county council on 0300 111 8000.”
