ALREWAS suffered a 74-run defeat in their penultimate fixture of the league season.
The Herons opted to send visitors Spondon in to bat first – and the visitors made a solid start before Ben Wright and Stephan Muller were both removed in the same over to leave them on 73-2.
Joshua Brear made 34 before he was caught by Stephen Cole off Thomas Sherratt's bowling, but the middle order and tail were proving stubborn as they reached 254-7 after their 50 overs were up.
Craig Swinfield and Gareth Woolley took two wickets each to top the bowling charts.
The Alrewas response got off to a shaky start as James Burton went for eight in the third over, but a patient knock of 53 from Gareth Woolley saw him top-score as the total was pushed along.
But despite a stubborn 20 from Will Smedley, the Herons failed to make the middle order and tail wag as they were skittled out for 180.
