Two Lichfield District Council workers are celebrating after clocking up 50 years of service between them.
Ruth Plant, the local authority’s director of operational services, presented Desmond Childs and Tyronne Smallman with their long service awards.
Fifty-three year-old Desmond Childs, from Lichfield, has been with the grounds maintenance team for 25 years. He is one of two team leaders and his role includes grass cutting, tree surgery, fine turf and sports pitch maintenance and more.
Tyronne Smallman, 48, from Lichfield, has been with the council for just over 25 years. He initially started with the grounds maintenance department, working with the grass cutting teams. He then transferred to highways, working with the road and tarmac crews, and then went on to be a second driver of the council’s refuse trucks, and is now a team leader.
Both Desmond and Tyronne were awarded a £150 voucher to spend on a gift of their choice.
Councillor Louise Flowith, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for operational services, said: “Twenty-five years of service is a great achievement, and on behalf of the council I would like to thank Desmond and Tyronne for all of their hard work over the years.”
