With 12 hours to go until the polls open, Lichfield and Burntwood’s candidates have been invited to make one final plea to voters in their own words.
Below is UKIP candidate John Rackham’s eve of the election statement…
“Tomorrow voters face a clear choice – more of the same old politics with Michael Fabricant or a breath of fresh air with UKIP.
I’ve worked in the pub trade my whole life, I’ve lived in Lichfield for 25 years and I want to be a force for change for you all.
My priority is to represent everyone in this wonderful multi-cultural community we now live in here in the 21st century.
But we need a change. I therefore want to be your voice in parliament, and I promise if elected – I will never forget that you’re my boss and I’m your servant.
Things can’t carry on as they are. Our politicial class these days are interested in a few at the top of society rather than everyday working men and women.
UKIP are called the ‘people’s army’ because UK citizens of all faiths, nationalities, colour and creeds realise we are the only party who hear their concerns.
Our concern regarding immigration is about the numbers and is nothing to do with race – what effect will the ever rising numbers into our country have on our public services? I strongly urge Lichfield and Burntwood voters to consider this.
If you are fed up of the same old politics and rhetoric from our politicial elite then I call on you to believe in our island nation by voting for UKIP tomorrow.”
